Plotting Time

Here's a chance to plot with Dani. I hope to have quite a few plots with her, given her job, some negative and some positive--message me anytime you'd like to involve her in something or just comment here.
Info on Dani for possible plotting~:
▸ Dani is from Siren Cove. She spent her youth traveling the world and helping those in need.
▸ Super dislikes wealthy people and how the world is handed to them.
▸ Her sister went missing 4 years ago. Aimee is currently a cold case.
▸ Editor-in-chief of The Cove, a juicy tabloid magazine that buys stories and pictures from citizens and the paps.
▸ No one knows she uses her income to fund investigative journalism around the world. Your character probably thinks she just likes making money off other people's gossip.
▸ She's ~around to hear gossip about anyone in this town if your character wants.
▸ Making a deal: Dani's powers are focused on making deals. A character can strike a deal with her to expose or stifle a story. Once a deal is made with Dani, both parties are bound to it and cannot break that deal unless Dani releases them from in. Which takes maybe a bit of blood and an incantation or two.
▸ Dani can be a powerful friend or foe. But true friendship with Dani is rare and probably only a handful of individuals can claim that.

Dani can expose things if that's what you want, maybe get everything out in the open, making Corry face that, or she can help keep those things under wraps and Corry can come clean on her own terms. I expect Dani has a power over the paps in Siren Cove since she's the one that'll publish their pics & tips, so if she says "back off" they'll listen for a bit (unless they figure out someone else they can sell to).
Also they're a few years apart, and since they grew up in Siren Cove, they probably knew each other a bit. I know Corry's past is mostly related to Les and Owen, but they definitely could've known each other back in the day. Dani would have become jaded since Corry last saw her, especially after her sister's disappearance. Buuuuttt she could be a bit more sympathetic to Corry and give her a helping hand. Maybe be a no-nonsense person she needs? I DUNNO I'M GAME SORRY I'VE RAMBLED.

Date: 2014-09-07 01:40 am (UTC)Maybe she and Corry establish a tentative relationship where Corry pays her to run stories only at her approval. She probably remembers her from growing up and thinks that connection would lend to a compromise. Maybe they even laugh over lattes creating stories. But it's a very tentative sort of alliance and once Dani realizes there's a lot more to exploit she starts blackmailing Corry more and more to stay quiet.
I guess I see them as frienemies of sort? With the hand swiftly changing in favor of one or another? Not many people call Corry on her secrets and maybe it does lead her to becoming somewhat of a no-nonsense confidante even if there are deals and blackmail involved.

Date: 2014-09-07 01:46 am (UTC)I have an idea of how The Cove will release but I need to work out specifics with Lisa and the other mods. When I get the kinks worked out, it'll be conducive to Corry's print-approved stories and then eventually we can work on the ~expose/blackmailing angle. You'll be completely in control of when and what gets printed. If Dani sees how much the true story is worth, she'll definitely fight to expose it or yield with the right dollar amount.

Date: 2014-09-06 10:01 pm (UTC)Between the investigative journalism and the missing siblings, Dani and Jacob should probably have some sort of connection. I don't think he'd sell her stories, though - maybe they crossed paths when they were journalists and were like "...hey wait didn't we grow up in the same town?" (And then moved back home and were like "WAITASECOND ARE YOU STALKING ME".)
...although if that is the case, Jacob will be Very Disappointed in Dani for sinking to the level of tabloid editor.

Cover some stories together, move back, realize they have more in common, Dani disappoints him, pretends like she doesn't care, ~does~, and maybe one day he can figure out the truth of why she's running the tabloid. She's got a very skewed sense of right and wrong after everything so maybe Jacob can get her conscience thinking again? Maybe even help look into each other's missing sibling cases. Idk something to think about. I just like the idea that someone has a history with her much more investigative side of life~

Date: 2014-09-07 08:21 am (UTC)If they knew each other well enough for Jacob to have her fixed in his mind as a Good Person, he probably would - not investigate her, exactly, but low-key poke around a bit, try and figure out why she's doing what she does, so yeah, at some point, he might catch on to that. He's also very good at making people's consciences work and has a hell of a soft spot for missing kids, so I'm pretty much down for anything with the two of them.

Jacob can have fun doing a whole trying to figure out where all that money goes~ thing but it won't be easy peasy. She's hidden her tracks better than the dudes she busts. And of course, it'll be super easy for him to figure out that her sister has a closed case.
